Chromecast built-in Adds Effortless Audio Streaming Capabilities to Select Onkyo Home Entertainment

Communiqué de presse en date du: 25 avr. 2017

OSAKA, JAPAN. Onkyo, the world’s leading home entertainment design company, has announced a firmware update due April 25 that will activate Chromecast built-in on select home theater, hi-fi, and lifestyle audio products manufactured during or after 2016.

Chromecast built-in is an audio streaming platform that allows users to share a wide selection of music, Internet radio, podcasts, and other programs from popular Chromecast-enabled apps to Onkyo home entertainment systems.

Chromecast built-in is supported on iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Android™ phones and tablets, Chromebook™, and Chrome™ browser on Mac, Windows®, and Linux PCs.

Streaming audio from device to component is intuitive and instantaneous. Tapping or clicking on an icon built into Chromecast-enabled apps sends audio to enabled speakers or sound systems wirelessly, with sampling rates of up to 48 kHz supported for lossless sources.

Operating over 5 GHz/2.4 GHz Wi-Fi® on Onkyo products featuring Chromecast built-in, listeners can enjoy stable streaming with less buffering and fewer dropouts.

Further, Chromecast built-in allows use of other apps while streaming music. Users can answer calls, send emails, or play games without interrupting audio playback. The platform also enables streaming of single or multiple audio sources to other Chromecast-enabled speakers simultaneously.

No special device setup, password entry, or pairing process is required to connect and stream via Chromecast built-in, providing both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

The April 25 firmware update activates Chromecast built-in on the following Onkyo products:

PR-RZ5100, TX-RZ3100, TX-RZ1100, TX-RZ810, TX-RZ710, TX-NR676E, TX-NR656, TX-NR575E, TX-NR555, TX-NR474, TX-8270, TX-L50, TX-L20D, LS7200, LS5200, HT-S7805, NS-6170, NS-6130, R-N855, and NCP-302

To enjoy the Chromecast built-in on supported Onkyo products, apps must be Chromecast-enabled and the receiver and device must be connected to the same network. Discover Chromecast-enabled apps at g.co/cast/audioapps.

Chromecast built-in further enhances a universal audio streaming and wireless multi-room ecosystem integrated within Onkyo home entertainment products, giving listeners greater choice and enriching their daily life with immersive and satisfying sound.
